It's ironic how the same society that encourages a modern nomadism then turns around and idolizes indigenous cultures because these people have literally lived in the same place for hundreds, if not thousands, of years.

The fact is having a sense of belonging to a place is a gift. To live on the same land as your parents, or grandparents, or great-grandparents...to be surrounded by relations near and distant...is a profoundly wonderful and envious existence. As one who was raised as a nomad I envy those with that sense of place and belonging. In my adult life I've tried to create that for my kids.

I guess it takes the nomads to push the boundaries and explore new things, but even they need a place to come home to...
